Walter Mack Simon was born June 30, 1935, in Marion, South Carolina to Geter and Willie Mae Simon. While born in Marion, Walter, along with his family, made Mullins, South Carolina home. Growing up, he maintained a close relationship with his siblings. Walter was educated in the public school system in Mullins, where he attended Palmetto High School.
Walter Mack migrated to the Ocean City, NJ area where he worked several jobs in the area that would extend as far as New York and Philadelphia. It was during this time that he met Gloria Lee Epps whom he courted and married on March 5, 1957. This union produced four beautiful children: Regina, Joanne, Patricia, and Bruce.
Walter Mack enjoyed working many jobs throughtout the years including being an avid cook, however, he found the most stability in his role as the Environmental Services Supervisor. He held this title at both the Gershman Y and then John F. Kennnedy Memorial Hospital until his retirement.
Walter Mack was known to be a smooth, cool, and streetwise person who always dressed sharp and stayed well groomed. He had then what is known today as swag. In his younger days, he enjoyed going out and having a nice cold drink and being with friends. Later in life, Walter Mack drew solace in sitting in his den watching vintage cowboy programs and movies from sun up to sundown. He lived his life unapologetically and loved his family, both far and near.
Walter Mack leaves to cherish his memories his wife Gloria, his brother Hoyett, his daughters Regina, Joanne, Patricia; his son Bruce; his grandchildren Robin, Bernard, Dwayne, Kim, Latosha, Nikiya, Jules, Alicia, Bruce Jr. & Brandi; his great-grandchldren: Bernard Jr, D'juan, Dhafir, Tristen, Chase, Cree, Najah, Salim, Storm, A'Miracle, Zaibin, Jahsheed, Victorious, Justice, Jabraiya, Nehkia, Nasuh, Jules Jr, Tony, Jyree, Nikelle; great great-grandchildren: A'Mour, Kamaurii, Naeloni, Nahiya, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Walter Mack is preceded in death by his father Geter, mother Willie Mae, brothers Prince, Thomas, Chester, Hubert, Windell, Sister Eloise and granddaughter Rashida.
