Obituary

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for though art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Psalm 23:4

Early Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022, an angel came with trumpet sounds calling our dearly beloved, Tyrone Nelson home from his earthy life.

Tyrone was born on November 19, 1972, in Mullins, SC to Annie Mae Nelson and the late Mack Willie Nelson Sr. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Iyanna Nelson.   He attended the public schools of Marion County and was a graduate of Mullins High School, class of 1991.  Tyrone was a great athlete and as a result he began playing varsity football when he was in the 8th grade.  He also was a great baseball player. Tyrone was employed by Cheer Wine for many years and the owner and operator of his own trucking company.  After retiring at an early age, he moved back home to open some black owned businesses.  Tyrone’s Notorious 1 Beauty Supply store was the first black owned beauty supply store in the city of Marion, SC.

To know him was to love him, he was a people person.  He always kept a smile on his face and loved to see others smile as well.  Tyrone was the glue of the family.  He always planned family activities and functions to keep the family entertained.  Tyrone even hosted a family reunion with all expenses paid just to make sure that everyone that wanted to join in and have fun family time could.  When he saw you in need, he would help you out without you asking.  Whether if it was monetary or just a word of encouragement. Tyrone loved his Zion Community. He gave back to his community by hosting Zion Day, he assisted with youth tutoring, done random acts of kindness such as donating free hair to those deserving and gave away turkeys to the community. He shared a special relationship with all of his nieces and nephews. He referred to them as his babies.  He was a devoted lover of sports.  Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team.  Tyrone believed in having a good time and living life to the fullest.

He leaves to cherish his memory forever: his mother, Annie Mae Nelson of the home, his sons: Tyrick Glover of Greensboro, NC, Tyrone Belgrave (Breonna) of Duluth, GA, and TyJuan Nelson of the home;  God daughter: Tiesha Atkinson; Grandchildren: Tymir Belgrave and Emoree Dunlop; Brothers: Carl Nelson Brantley(Angela) Mullins, SC, Darrell Wooderry (Kim) Johnsonville, SC, Mack Nelson, Jr(Nicole) Upper Marlboro, MD; Sister: Nailah Metwally-Ibrahim (Ahmed) Arlington, VA; God Sister; Shirley Edwards; 2 great aunts: Alice Reaves and Pernell Ford: a great uncle: Doug Canery; Aunts; Brenda Samuel, Bertha Willis, Molly Smith, Alice Faye Woodberry and Margie Douglas (Kenneth); Uncles; Alexander Woodberry(Gloria), Wallace Woodberry(Joyce), Robert Woodberry, Ken Woodberry(Alice), Henry Nelson,  Charles Nelson(Melissa); Event Rogers and Lee Page; a special friend Catina Tisdale; a special friend like a brother, Goo Gray; a special cousin, Shawn Nelson  and  a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, brotherly friends and  friends everywhere.
