Shirley White Obituary

“Behold, I show you a mystery, we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: ” Shirley Ann White departed this life on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at McLeod Hospice in Florence, SC.

Shirley Ann White affectionately known at “Ms. Shirley” was born in Mullins SC December 25th 1941 daughter of the late John Roberts and Maggie Leggette Roberts. She was the last sibling of seven brothers and four sisters who’s moved on to Glory.  She attended Mullins HS of Marion County but did not graduate because she helped raise her younger siblings and niece and nephews. She shortly later met her late husband Frank White of 49 years of marriage and moved to New York City for a better quality of life and there she went on to obtain her GED.  Ms. Shirley and her late husband attended Walker Memorial Baptist Church in the Bronx, NY until their relocation in back to Mullins SC in Marion County September 2016. Ms. Shirley read her bible every day and loved talking about the Lord and how good He is.  Ms. Shirley worked in the jewelry design field for over twenty years in New York City until she retired to help take care of her grandson. She loved to cook and bake and everyone loved her cooking and always came over to find out what was on the stove. Cooking was so good that a person could hurt themselves eating too much! Friends and family always told her she should open up a restaurant because her cooking was just that good!  She always wanted you to have enough to eat and take a plate with you with a smile!

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, her three sons Levon (PJ) Roberts (Betty White); Decona Roberts Sr. (Minister Angela C. Roberts); Leonard Frank White her grandson Decona Roberts, Jr. a granddaughter Kayle Livingston -Roberts; two great grandson Kamari Holmes and Asher Watson and one great granddaughter Skylar. Ms. Shirley also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
