Sharon D. Campbell was born January 28, 1981 in Mullins, SC to the late Deacon Taft Lewis and Queen Esther Lewis. Sharon surrendered her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Mack T. Hines. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the music ensemble and choirs.
Sharon attended Marion County Public Schools and graduated with Mullins High School “Class of 1999.” She was a member of the band, and played the Saxophone, Volleyball, Basketball and Rec Softball. Sharon furthered her education at Florence-Darlington Tech. She worked numerous jobs at fast food restaurants, daycares, Marion County Public Schools, and Kelly Services as a substitute teacher. Sharon’s passion was Rec. Softball; keeping the clock at the gym and score board at the Rec. Sharon was a loving friend and mother, who loved children.
Sharon returned to her home church, New Covenant Church of Christ. She sang on the choir and ushered on the usher board, until her health failed. You could see her riding her wheelchair to church on Sundays. Sharon was united in holy matrimony to Jermaine Campbell, and to this union two children were born.
Sharon departed her life on January 15, 2020, after an illness at Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. She was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Willie Frinks and Dorothy Frinks, and a brother, Taft Jermaine Lewis.
Sharon leaves to forever cherish loving memories: her mother, Queen Esther Lewis: a son, Savion Campbell: a daughter, Taraji Campbell; one sister, Ebonie Lewis, whom she nurtured as her own; one nephew, King Lewis, whom she raised in her home as her own; one aunt, Bessie Lewis, and a very close friend, that she called “Aunt Frances,” Susan Legette. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts and uncles, friends, church family, and the Class of 1999.
Thanks to Guardian Angels and a special thanks to Crystal, Sharon’s caregiver.
