Roderick Mason Obituary

Mr. Roderick Morriss Mason was born on July 21, 1957 in Newport News, VA to the late Deacon Elbert Mason, Jr. and Leatha Mae Mason. He graduated from Warwick High School in 1975. He enlisted into the United States Army shortly after graduation and served his country faithfully for 3 years.

Roderick was a one of a kind guy whom we affectionately called Moose.  He was a hardworking and proud man. He conquered many challenges in his life and loved his family. Moose was a man of many talents. For many years, he worked in the jewelry repair and cleaning business. Later, Moose became a home improvement specialist. Moose was a dedicated and hard worker and loved the Chicago Bears. He loved to have a good time and was always impeccably and impressively dressed.

Roderick leaves to cherish fond memories of his life his children: Keebra Mason, LaShawnda A. Mason, Roderick M. Mason, Lakena S. Williams, Sharita Polk and Danita D. Hayes; his grandchildren: Deja I. Mason, Jamil A. Mason, Landyn L. Harper, Leahanna A. Harper, Ny’Shaun L. Williams, Malik T. Polk, Clint D. Polk and Kameran Hayes; his siblings: Adlai (Pearline) Mason, Linda Rice, Eric Mason (Pat), Rickie Mason, Elbert Mason, III and Faith (Anton) Gilliam; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Roderick loved and enjoyed spending time with his high school sweetheart and loving companion, Katrina Harris. Roderick will be missed, but never forgotten by all who loved him.
