On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Mary Lee Cribb Phillips (Sister) transitioned into eternal rest. Mary was the daughter of the late Mack C. Cribb and Lila Mae Evans Cribb. She was born on May 1, 1941 in Marion County, South Carolina.
She attended the public schools in Mullins, South Carolina and was a graduate of Palmetto High School Class of 1958.
Mary professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age.
Mary met and married Oscar "Sonnyboy" Johnson, Jr, to this union was born one child Monica Marie Johnson, both preceded her in death. She later met and married Sonny Gus Phillips in Trenton, New Jersey, where they lived until her health began to fail. they owned several businesses in Trenton.
"Sister" was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Willie Lee Cribb and Mack Cribb Jr., one sister: Clara J. Cribb-Legette.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Sonny Gus Phillips of Trenton, NJ; two sisters: Shirley Cribb-Matlock of Latta, SC and Hazel J. (Luther) Jones of Owasso, Oklahoma; two brothers: Cornelius (Joyce) Cribb of Darlington, SC and Raymond (Shawnletta) Cribb of Lumberton, NC; stepson: Charles Phillips of Swainsboro, GA; foster daughter: Nicole Thompson of Trenton, NJ; five grandchildren: Tremayne, Tony (Shakita) Johnson, Ebony, Marcus & Christopher Durant; 9 great-grandchildren, 2 special great-granddaughters: Miniya and Iyonna Durant Cribb of Marion, SC who was there for her until her demise; a devoted surrogate sister: Florine Tyler and a host of relatives and friends.
