Lenora Rowell Smith was born to the late Willie Rowell and Harriett E. Livingston on March 3rd, 1934 in Marion, South Carolina. She was the wife of the late Hoyt Smith Jr. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on May 30th, 2023.
Lenora was a prodigy of Marion School District 7 Schools. She worked as a Daycare Director for 40+ years in Washington, D.C. She provided exceptional and loyal service to those in her community, family, and church.
Lenora served as a mighty warrior in God’s army from a young age. She was a member of the New Mt.Zion Temple in Washington, D.C. under the leadership of the late Pastor Anniebell Hagler. While a member of the ministry she served as a lead missionary, prayer partner to many, and intercessor. She was a member of the Feed the Hungry Ministry, the Hospitality Department, and many other ministries. After the death of her husband, she returned to South Carolina where she joined the Holy Temple Church under the leadership of Pastor Rosetta Floyd,where she served as the Assistant Pastor until her heavenly transition. She was also an active member of this church serving as the Superintendent of the Sunday school and the leader of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry for 15+ years.
In her last few years of life, she enjoyed her time fellowshipping with her loving friends at the Cannan Land Adult Daycare Center under the direction of Pastor McKelvy.
Lenora was proceeded in death by her three sons Larry Dean Smith, Michael Smith, and Stevie Smith, her grandson Ellis Smith Jr., and her best friend Justina Mae Gerald.
Her memories will be cherished by her one sister Willie Mae Gerald; her loving children Ellis Rodney Smith (Latrina), Diane Harrette Warner (Tyrone), Dallas Lavern Smith, Darrette Smith (Romona), Emmanuel Smith (Sharon), Paul Smith; her grandchildren Carrie, Alexicia, Terrance, Ronnette, Tyrone, Jason, Christopher, Joshua, Tylon, Jonathan, Jay, Cassandra, Morgan, Emmanuel Jr., Makye, Paul Jr, Javon; and a host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends
