Leitha “Smoky ” Williams

Ms. Leitha Margaret Williams departed this life Saturday, April 24, 2021 in the MUSC Nursing Center, Mullins, SC. A beautiful flower was plucked the other day from God’s beautiful garden.  “Smokey” as she was affectionately known to her family and friends was a loving and kind person to those she met. She had great love for her family as well. “Smokey” was born June 3, 1934 in Mullins, SC to the late Lannie McLaughlin.

She was married to the late Ellie Williams of Mullins, SC and to this union five (5) children were born. She attended the public schools of Mullins, SC and worked for many years at Marvel Lighting Co., Mullins, SC. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Curtis Campbell, Pastor.

She leaves to cherish fond memories two (2) sons: Alexander McLaughlin of the home and Dexter Williams of Maryland; her grandson that she raised, Travis McLaughlin of Mullins SC; one sister Mildred Campbell of Zion SC; a special grandson she raised in her home Rodney (Scooter) of Marion SC; a great nephew Joshua and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
