Joyce Ann Hamer Legette was born to the late James Johnson and Betty Jean Hamer Nichols on July 31, 1956 in Mullins, S.C. Joyce departed this life on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Joyce, affectionately known as “Bo”, accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Little Mount Zion Baptist Church, Lake View, SC. She attended the public schools of Dillon County and graduated from Lake View High School in the Class of 1974. In 1989, Joyce relocated to San Antonio Texas and later became a member of The Door Christian Fellowship Church where she served faithfully until relocating back home to Lake View in 2018. Joyce loved her family and had a passion for cleaning, working in the yard, cooking and loved to see others enjoy her meals. Joyce loved to dress up with high heels and pretty dresses, but also a passion for helping those in the community who were in need of assistance.
Joyce leaves to cherish the fond memories of her life: a son, Marcus “Fig” (Monica) Hamer of Charlotte, NC and two granddaughters her heart, Mia Ann and Maleah Jean. A Mother, Betty Jean Nichols of Lake View, S.C. , one brother, Lionel (Vivian) Hamer of Erie, PA, two aunts, Luzetta Porter and Willie Mae Hamer both of Philadelphia, PA. and two uncles, Lenue Hamer of Bonx, NY and William (Verna) Nance of Nichols, SC. Two nieces, Shareese Hamer of Charlotte, NC and Dyetta Bonner of Gaffney, SC. Two great nieces, LeAuja Hamer of Erie, PA and Skyla Johnson of Charlotte, NC. Two nephews, Lionel Hamer, Jr. of Erie, PA and RaShawn Page of Raleigh, NC. Two special cousins, Taft “Chris” Hamer and Demond Hamer. And a host of additional relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death: a brother, Leon Hamer, a grandmother: Robena Hamer and a special friend, Debra Bethea.
