John A Vance

John Allen Vance was born on February 23, 1939 to the late John Allen and Leola Vance. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. He had four brothers: Johnny Lee Anderson, Franklin Vance, Joe Lewis Vance, and Sylvester Vance; one sister, Margaret Anderson Wheeler, all preceded him in death.

He was educated in the Marion County public schools and attended Palmetto High School. He worked at Continental Can Company in Richmond Virginia for 36 years. He also worked as a security guard for 10 years at SOPAKCO in Mullins. He was a member at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mullins, SC. He married Ruby Lee Godbolt on September 1, 1961. To this union five children were born; one son, John Allen Vance, Jr . preceded him in death.

Those who are left to cherish the memory of John Allen Vance are: his wife, Ruby Vance; three daughters: Annie Vance Fordham, Mary Vance, Cynthia Vance Felder, all of Mullins SC; one son, Jerome (Erica) Vance of Mullins SC; (14) fourteen grandchildren, (19) nineteen great - grandchildren, three sisters -in -law: Alice Godbolt, Kay Francis Godbolt of Mullins SC, and Linda Davis of Barstow CA; two special nephews; Terry and Eddie Wheeler of Mullins SC; two special friends; Marvin Williams, and Wade Shipman of Mullins SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
