IN REMEMBRANCE
Mrs. Jannie Bell Chestnut, the daughter of late Pearlie Baxter and Susan Bell (Haynes) Baxter, was born January 5, 1941, in Chadbourn, North Carolina. Bell as she was affectionally called passed away on Thursday January 13, 2022, at MUSC Hospital in Florence SC.
Bell attended the public school system of Columbus County. At an early age, she developed a work ethic that motivated her for a lifetime until her retirement.
Bell was a faithful member of the Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Fair Bluff NC. She served as an usher during her tenure. In her spare time, you can catch her fishing with her neighbor Ms. Ruth Owens.
Bell was married to the late William Arthur (Pete) Chestnut, this union brought forth three children, two of her children proceeded her in death, Gloria (Dobbie) Denise (deceased), Wanda Jean, Theresa (Trissie) deceased.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Wanda Jean; three grandchildren whom she raised in the home Rashan, Rashauna and William (Petey) until the age of 11, Amber Brittney (Jarod) Deas, Julian Emil, Brandon Quincey, Mikayla (Keymo) Walker, Maya, and Marissa along with their dad, Michael her son-in-law (her favorite because he’s the only one). Great-grandchildren who affectionally called her G-G; Zavier, Trenton, Zaybian, Jalil, Braylon, Jianna, Braxton and Elijah. Our newest addition Aiden. And then there’s Winston a.k.a Bubba whom she became his caregiver along with Dobbie since the age of 3 months. He adored his G-G.
Her sisters Pearlie Mae Baxter of New York, Mary Ruth (Fred) Edge, Terri Ann Baxter, Alice Marie (Fred) Steel, and Katie Baxter all of Mullins SC, Estelle Baxter of New York. Four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and host of loving relatives and friends.
