A Time to be Born
God's Life Mission for Mrs. Willie Harriet Lewis Williams (Harriet) as she was affectingly known was born August 13, 1943 to Sidney and Elizabeth Dixon Lewis in Mullins, SC Carolina.
A Time to Learn
Willie Harriet was educated in the Marion County Public School System. She graduated from Palmetto High School, Benedict College and Francis Marion University, where she received her Masters Degree in Education. Upon completion of college studies, Harriet worked at various schools spreading the gift that God endowed her with, to numerous children; she taught Fifth Grade at Daisy Elemtary 1973-1978, Loris Middle School- Language Arts- 1978-1990 and Eighth grade in several other public schools in 1990 until her retirement 1998.
A Time to Live
Harriet Williams Mrs. Chancellor and Deputy Dog as she was so affectionately called; by her nieces and nephews, loved to dress, she had a fondness for the finer things of life, her signature nail designs and her hat collection; she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Dillon– Marion County Alumnae Chapter and also the Eastern Star Starlight Chapter 169.
A Time for Love
On December 5, 1983 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Sinclair Williams, a loving and devoted husband. To this union there were no biological children born, but they raised and called Robert (Latonya ) Harrington and his Children Alyssa & Aldrie their own.
She and Sinclair Helped to Raise her Grand Nephew, Maurice Brown (Candra) of Moncks Corner, SC.
A Time to Serve
Harriet became a member of Mt.Olive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. J.L. Brooks. Harriet loved to sing and had an opera Voice which she didn't mind exercising in the choir, she also served as the church secretary for over thirty years, she sang on the sanctuary choir, Chairperson for the bereavement committee, Smooth Sail Committee, Missionary Ministry, Faithful member in Bible study and Sunday School, Delegate for the Democratic Party Marion SC., Member of the Marion County Foster Care Board and Recording Secretary of The Big Pee Dee Association.
A Time to Remember
Harriet was Preceded in death by her Husband Sinclair Williams, a Baby Daughter, Stephanie Lewis, Mother and Father Sidney and Elizabeth Dixon Lewis, her one and only Sibling Mr. Sidney K, Lewis Jr., Niece Janis Faye Lewis Anderson Jenkins , and Nephew Jake Lewis Sr.
A Time to Mourn
On Saturday, October 2, at 11 am the Master called Harriet Lewis Williams from labor to reward, she left to cherish her loving memories her Nieces and Nephews:, Linda (Ronald ) Heyward, Goose Creek SC, Rosalinda ( Gregory) England Moncks SC, Cynthia ( Michael) Ross Ladson SC, Ronald Lewis, Ladson SC William (Carolina) Lewis Ladson SC, Christopher Eady Norfolk Virginia, Wanda Lewis, Orangeburg SC, Sonya Lewis, Summerville SC, , Jake (Mary) Lewis Ladson’s, Jinell Anderson North Charleston SC. And a Hosts of grand nieces, nephews and Great grand Nieces' and nephews. A Devoted and loving friend Rose Mary Hickman, Special Cousins Lillie Williams and Terry Davis, And her very Special Buddies, James Campbell, Alfonzo Campbell and Mrs. Ruby Vance; and a host of cousins and friends.
