Harriet Gee Obituary

Harriet or “Harrit” as many of her family members called her, was born on Monday, October 31, 1955 in Mullins Hospital in Marion County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Saturday, May 1st, 2021, in Chesapeake, Virginia.

 

She grew up in Galivants Ferry (Aynor), South Carolina and attended Levister Elementary School. She attended Aynor High School for a short while and left to marry the love of her life, Charles Gee.  They moved to Miami, Florida and had their first child there. After a few years they moved back home to Aynor and had two more children. Later the family moved to Mullins, South Carolina.

 

As the children grew up, Harriet continued her education, earning her high school diploma and cosmetology license.  She became a business owner and loved working with her clients and doing their hair.  She was a survivor of breast cancer and had other health challenges that God brought her through.  

 

Harriet accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her 20’s. She was passionate about everything that she did. She has been a faithful member of St. John’s Free Will Baptist for over 30 years. She earned her Master’s Degree in biblical studies and became an ordained minister. 

 

Preceded her in death were her parents, Jannie Gore Carter, (Dub)Harry William Carter, Jr. and one brother, (Peter) Harry William Carter, Jr II. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Charles Gee of Mullins, SC; two sisters and two brothers, Virginia Jones of Aynor, SC, Connie Mason of Florence, SC, Steve Carter of Aynor, SC and (Junior) Harry William Carter, Jr III of Seattle WA; two daughters Patricia Stackhouse (Leon) of Mullins, SC; Melinda Gee Hooks (Roger) of Florence, SC; One son Charles Gee, Jr. (Sirahra) of Manassas, VA; (7) grandchildren: Jose Narciso (Amanni) of Florence, SC; Donta Narciso (Nicole) of Manassas, VA, Armondo Narciso (Teilia) of Mullins, SC, Keenan Hooks of Las Vegas, NV, Cole Benson of Florence, SC, Christa Benson of Coronado, CA, and Kimberly Swinton of Mullins, SC; (7) great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other children that were special to her heart.

 

She also leaves to cherish her memories Sequoia Arthur, known as “Baby” of the home and Lakeisha Saphonia Gee her honorary daughter of Chesapeake, VA.
