Mrs. Gracie Mae Page James was born on November 22, 1953. “Gracie” was the eldest daughter born to the late Mr. Hoover H. and Laura M. Bragdon Page. “Gracie” grew up in Mullins, SC but when her parents died, she relocated to Trenton, NJ. She graduated from Trenton Central High School. “Gracie” met and later married the late Mr. Arthur James on August 28 , 1971. This union was blessed with two daughters, Ms. Nicole James, and the late Ms. Delia James, who preceded her in death on December 5, 2019. Gracie James was also blessed with another daughter, Ms. Lisa James. She loved her daughters and grandchildren dearly.
Throughout her life, “Gracie”, worked numerous jobs, she had a work ethic that was unmatched. “Gracie” spent a period of time living in South Carolina, where she was able to be near family members and work. While in SC, she rededicated her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at her home church, Williams Chapel A.M.E. Church in Nichols, SC. She was also a member of the Gospell Choir. “Gracie” was highly active in the various ministries and programs of the church. After spending a few years in SC, “Gracie” returned to Trenton, NJ and later retired from Amazon.
Gracie James was the epitome of a caring and strong mother.
“Gracie” was diagnosed with cancer just one month after her daughter, Delia was diagnosed with cancer. Yet, in the midst of her bout with cancer, she took care of her. “Gracie” fought her battle with cancer for a year.
Gracie James transitioned from Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J. into the Heavenly Realm on Friday, June 12, 2020. “Gracie” did as the scripture penned in Revelation 2:10, “...be thou faithful unto death...”, because she knew that the Lord prom- ised in that same scripture, “I would give you a crown of life”. “Gracie” leaves to cherish her memories, daughters: Nicole James and Laura Lisa James of Trenton, NJ; Grandchildren: Breona Fleming, Brittani Reed, Byron Sherman, and Brandon Martin; one great-grandson: Jay’vion Inge all of Trenton, NJ; Sisters: Sylvia Montgomery of Florence, SC, Joyce Page of Mullins, SC and Ada Page of Charlotte, NC; Brothers: Ronnie (Marnita) Page of Far Rockaway, NY, Herbert (Jackie) Page, Jr. of Aynor, SC, Laverne (Angela) Page, Sr. of Mullins, SC. A special thank you to her de- voted son-in-law Michael Martin that assisted her during her ill- ness. The transition of “Gracie” leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
