Earnestine Waters, also known as Mama, was born in Nichols, South Carolina on September 22, 1926 to Earnest Floyd Jones and Mary Eaddy Jones. On January 29, 2023, she departed this life at her home.
On March 3, 1943, she married W. C. Waters, Sr. and together they had 12 children. She raised her children with a strong sense of faith, family and love which was instilled in her by her mother Mary.
Mama was a member at Friendship #2 Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a missionary, kitchen committee member, usher, and a choir member before she became sick. Mama was a very talented woman. She healed babies and was a great cook. She has fed just about everyone in Nichols, South Carolina. Mama cared for her family, friends, and many other people in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers: R.J. Jones, Gary Jones, Albert Jones, Sr., Dearmer “Dee” Jones, Riston Jones, and Reynon “Pudd” Jones, 1 sister Katherine Finklea, husband W.C. Waters, Sr. and sons Kenther Waters and W.C. Waters, Jr.
Leaving to cherish her memories are 10 children along with 4 extended children Patsy Lee, Shirley Owens, Johnny (Linda) Waters, Vonnie Waters, Sarah Strickland, Earl (Essie) Waters, Marlene Waters, Terria (Bobby) McDuffie, Leroy (Tosha) Waters, Elaine Waters, Georgia Waters, Patricia (Billy) Hayes, Donald (Thomasine) Waters, and Curtis (Heyward) Williamson.
She leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was blessed to see and raise 5 generations.
