Bro. David Woodberry of Desoto, Texas, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, June 28, 2020. David was born to Robert and Sarah Woodberry on January 16, 1950 in Mullins, South Carolina. He attended Mullins Public Schools and after completing his high school education, he enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country in the Vietnam War. David honorably served 4 years active duty and 16 years with the National Guard; a total of 20 years of military service as an auto mechanic. He settled in Ennis, Texas and married his high school sweetheart Mary Nichols. While in Ennis he was a faithful Deacon at Fourth Ward Baptist Church. David went on to dedicate 26 years as a Driver for Roadway Express Trucking Company and 9 years as the Director of Transportation at Friendship West Baptist Church. Once David reached retirement, his passion for working with young people led him to become a bus driver for the Dallas County School District. David was a kind and compassionate man who was always willing to help those in need in any way that he could. A man of all trades, he loved working with his hands and building anything from stages for his church youth department to remodeling his home or the homes of others that needed help. David had a special love for working on cars and lovingly rebuilt them for each of his grandchildren until sickness would not allow him to do so.
David is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Sarah Woodberry, sisters Cathy and Roberta, and brother Willie Henry.
David leaves behind his wife of 38 years Mary Woodberry; 5 children David Terrell (Cassandra), Tasha (James), Kerina (Mike), Ayneka and Candice (Tommy); 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; his siblings including four sisters: Annie Mae, Lillie Ann, Alice Faye, Marjorie and four brothers: Robert Jr., Alexander, Wallace and Kenneth; one loving aunt Alice Reaves and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special in laws and other devoted relatives and friends.
