Bernard Legette Obituary

Bernard Legette, better known as "Bernie" was born to the lae Emanuel and Carnella Gerald Legette on April 10, 1956 in Marion County.  He departed his earthly life on June 17, 2020 in the comfort of the family's home in Mullins, SC.  He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ during the mid 60's where he played lead guitar and sang on their group, the Progressive Junior Trumpeteers, and a member of the Boys Club at Progressive Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Like his father, he was very talented and loved God and his family.

Berie graduated from Mullins High School in 1975, where he played football, basketball, ran track and was sports editor and writer of his school's "Nosey News."  His fellow classmates expressed him as a man of great integrity and srength who kept them straight when they veered in the worng direction.  He was a pillar and rock whom they looked up to with the utmost respect.  He served in the US Army where he was honorably discharged and from there enrolled at Benedict College in Columbia, SC and obtained his B. A. degree in Broadcast Journalism.  While studying at Benedict he obtained a job at WOLO TV 25.  He also became an editor at SC Black Media Group.  He worked tirelessly until the paper went digital.  Retiring from journalism, he lived the remainder of his life journeying down endeavors of life that was adventurous to him.

Bernard Legette (Bernie) leaves to cherish fond and loving memories two sons: Twain Devon and Justin Deon; grandchildren Justin Jr and Jacen; two brothers: Emanuel Legette Jr. and Robert Lee (Raynell) Legette; four sisters Agatha (Bishop Lang) Priester, Bessie (Dr. Roscoe Black), Edith (Donald) Wheeler, Eartha, his caregiver, (Deacon Levern Brockington); three aunts, a host of loving nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Special friends/brothers/sister: Dorothy Jackson Davis, Ricky Scott, fritz Gerald, Thom Bethea and levern Weaver; last employer/brother, (Bunny) Deacon Robert Brewton.  Bernie will truly be missed.
