Annie Legette Obituary

Mother Annie Reen Page Legette was born January 2, 1928, to the late Dallas Gilchrist and Mary Page in Marion County. She slipped into restful peace at home surrounded by family on Wednesday May 3, 2023. Annie Reen was educated in the public schools of Marion County where she worked for Marvel Lighting Corporation for over 25 years until her retirement.  

Annie Reen was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion AME Church.  She was the Distinguished Mother of the Church and has previously worked in many church organizations such as a member of the Senior Choir and Senior Usher Board. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Stars Rising Star Chapter #221 Smithboro, SC since 1949 where she served as the Secretary from the late 1960’s until 2012.  She was a quiet, God loving and an undercover funny friend, neighbor, mother and grandmother. She always had something for the neighborhood kids and animals.  

 Six (6) siblings, Willie Page, Daniel Henry Gilchrist, Samuel Gilchrist, Wilbur Gilchrist, Nathaniel Gilchrist and her sister Arnetter Swinton, two (2) Sons in Love, Aaron Legette, Lamar Legette and One (1) Daughter in Love Lynnette Byrd preceded her in death. 

Annie Reen was married to the late Leroy “Gator” Legette and to this union she leaves to cherish her daughter Anita (Clenton) Campbell of the home, three Sons in Love, Allen (Vivian) Legette, Warren (Carolyn) Legette of Monroe, NC and Othadavid (Elizabeth) Legette, of Myrtle Beach, SC. Three Daughters in Love Grace Platt, and Elaine Woodberry and Angela Legette all of Mullins SC, a sister Nancy Rasberry of Columbia, SC., Twenty-Eight grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and six great, great grands, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
