Obituary
“Bookie” as most family and friends called him, was born in Washington, DC on May 25, 1963 to the late James (Sterling) and Evelena (Jesse) Morris.
“Bookie” attended the public schools of Washington DC until the death of his mother in 1977. He then moved to Prince Georges County MD. Bookie graduated from Fairmont Heights High School in 1981. While attending school he played basketball and football.
He later found a career at Royal Formal Warehouse in Maryland and he was also a DJ. From 1977 to 1982 he helped raised his younger sister and brother. In 1988 Bookie moved to South Carolina where he worked various odds and ends jobs as well as painted until his untimely death.
“Bookie” is preceded in death by his parents James (Sterling) and Evelena (Jesse) Morris, his sister Ms. Marquis (Angie) Pollard, his grandparents James (JC) and Ardella Green, his aunts Joanne Darby, Pauline Green, and uncle Fredrick Green and Lee Davis.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife Mrs. Priscilla Sanders Morris of Marion SC. His daughter Porsche Tarpley of Maryland; his son Delonte Smith of Rains SC; grandmother Ms. Sadie Jackson of Washington DC; five stepchildren Tony Sanders and Timothy Keith of Charlotte NC, Terell Sanders, Tiwina Sanders, Tanya Sanders, all of Marion SC; one sister Ms. Tiwana Morris of Accokeek MD; and two brothers Dwayne Morris and Tyrus Pollard both of Washington DC; seven grandchildren Jayden, Keira, Leilani, and Nyrie all of Maryland, Justice and Kyra of Rains SC and Delonta Jr of Florence SC; His aunts Mrs. Bertha Davis, Ms. Louise Green, Ms. Dorothy Green all of Rains SC, Mrs. Earline (James) Miller of Penderboro SC, and Mrs. Brenda Green of Myrtle Beach SC; 1 uncle Mr. James Green of Rains, SC A little cousin with whom he formed a special bond within Kaiden Hemingway; and a host of other relatives, cousin, nieces, nephews and friends.
