Polly Carmichael Obituary

 

Mrs. Polly Floyd Carmichael departed this life on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her residence after a brief illness.

She was the third oldest of eight children born to the late Refus and Rebecca Gerald Floyd.  Polly was educated in the Marion County School System.  She worked numerous jobs throughout her life.  Polly was employed by the Bulova Watch Company, Marvel Lamp, and Russell Stover Candies to name a few.  The most fulfilling job and the one that gave her great joy was working as a healthcare provider at the Marion County Convalescent Home in Marion from which she retired.

Polly was predeceased by her parents, husband, and seven brothers – Sylvester, Cleveland, Refus “Bud”, Theodore “Yank”, Don, Kirby, and Rudolph Floyd.

Polly was the “Mother” of Williams Chapel AME.  She worked tirelessly in the church from a very young age up to a few weeks prior to her illness.  She was active in many church ministries and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Progress Lodge 104.

Polly was married to the late Mack Daniel Carmichael and they were blessed with five daughters.

The following are left to cherish loving memories of Polly, her children:  Rebecca Ford of Mullins, SC, Willadean (Robert) Harrison of Wilsons, VA, Gloria Hayes of the home, Maxie Johnson of Raleigh, NC, and Beverly Carmichael of Fayetteville, NC; Eight grandchildren: Kris (Anthony) Nelson of Mullins, SC, Elliott (Toyette) Ford of Huntersville, NC, Lindberg Carmichael of Baltimore, MD, Kendra Ferguson of Carey , NC, Brooke Harrison of Petersburg, VA, David (Julie) Harrison of Louisburg, NC, Rebecca Bing of Baltimore, MD, and Danielle Ferguson of Carey, NC; Eleven great-grands: Kivi, Antwan, Ja’queisha, Miya, Jada, Angel, Alexis, Jorn, Justin, Kasi, and Amir; Two great-great grands: Za’Vion and Nova; Five sisters-in-law: Polly Jenkins of Lake View, SC, Beulah Floyd of Baltimore, MD, Tommesenia Floyd of Nichols, SC, Donnie Nell Floyd of Nichols, SC, and Dorothy Floyd of North Myrtle Beach, SC; a host of cousins, nieces (SDLG), nephews, and friends; Special relatives: Eva Mae Lee of Nichols, SC, Roxie Williams of Alabama, McDonald Floyd of Nichols, SC, and Lavern Floyd of Brooklyn, NY; Special friends: Ruby Alston of Seat Pleasant, MD and Geraldine Johnson of Nichols, SC.
