Minnie Louise Wilson was born on December 2, 1945, to Frank and Alberta (Dixon) Smith in Rains, South Carolina. She fell asleep in death on December 21, 2018, after a short, hard fought battle with cancer.

Minnie graduated Mullins High School in 1963; attended Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC and later Francis Marion College in Florence, SC. She majored in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, which led to her becoming a Teacher’s Aide at Zion Elementary School in Zion, SC and at North Mullins Primary School in Mullins, SC. Minnie also worked as a Telephone Operator at Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, Baltimore, MD; a Math Assistant at Lake View Middle School in Lake View, SC; then as a Teacher’s Aide and Clerical Investigator at Macy’s Department Store in Brooklyn, NY; and finally as Assistant Retirement Benefits Manager at NYC Board of Education Retirement System in Brooklyn, NY, from which she retired in September 2012.

Minnie met and married Carl Jerome Wilson, Sr. (deceased) on December 23, 1965. From their union, came Caralyn “Barbet”, Carl Jr. and Marlene Vanessa.

On June 18, 1976, Minnie dedicated her life and symbolized her dedication by water baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She dedicated many hours per month preaching about the good news of God’s kingdom. She often traveled to different areas to preach in seldom reached territories. Minnie auxiliary pioneered on a continuous basis from September 2013 through August 2014 and became a regular pioneer in September 2014. She was a faithful servant in several Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses: Mullins Congregation in Mullins, SC; Van Dyke Congregation in Brooklyn, NY; the Strauss Congregation in Brooklyn, NY; and started to attend the East Plainfield Congregation in Plainfield, NJ.

Minnie was known for her outstanding love for Jehovah and love for family and friends. She was always concerned for others and put them ahead of herself, even when she herself wasn’t doing well. Minnie always checked on her family and worked hard to keep peace in the family. She had a relationship with all her many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was known to be reasonable, kind-hearted and generous.
