Luther Pouncey

Luther Pouncey Jr., known to family and friends as “Luke” and “Buddy”, was born June 21, 1955, in Dillon County, South Carolina to Rebecca Pouncey and the late Luther Pouncey, Sr. Luther Jr. departed this life at his home and called to eternal rest on Friday, February 3, 2018.

Luther Jr. was a member of the Spring Grove Baptist Church, Latta, South Carolina where he sang with the Male Choir.

Luther Jr. graduated from Latta High School, in Latta, South Carolina in 1973. Upon completion of high school, he attended South Carolina State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation from South Carolina State College, Luther Jr. was employed with Fluor Daniel International Corporation. He had an exten-sive career which afforded him many opportunities across the United States and internationally, to include countries such as Saudi Arabia, Japan, Indonesia, Iraq and the Philippines.

Luther Jr. leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories: his mother, Rebecca Pouncey of Latta, SC; two children: Premiere A. Pouncey of Marion, SC and Leslie S. Pouncey of the Philippines; one grandson: Kemet Dale Pouncey of Marion, SC; two sisters: Jo Ann P. Williamson of Latta, SC and Zenobia (Carlton) Pearson of Latta, SC; one niece: Tiffany (Brian) Thompson of Columbia, SC; one nephew: Eric Pearson of Latta, SC; one great niece: Logan Briana Thompson of Columbia, SC; Aunts/Uncles Mr. Isaiah and Edith Collington, of Latta, SC; Barbara Collington, of New Jersey, NJ; Gertrude Davis of Latta, SC; Mary Miles, of Mullins, SC; Melvin and Car-rie Cantey, of Latta, SC; one Goddaughter Ty’Koiya Gib-son-Mills, a special friend Amanda Taylor; lifelong friend/brother Freddie Tim-mons and a host of relatives and friends.
