Obituary

Mr. Leon Mason departed his life Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Carolinas Hospital System in Marion, South Carolina.  Mr. Leon was born on January 13, 1967 to the late Mildred "Piggy" Mason in Dillon County, South Carolina. He was the seventh of eight children.  One sister and one brother preceded him in death.  He joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age.

Leon graduated from Lake View High School in Lake View, South Carolina in 1986.  After graduating from high school, Leon went straight into the working field at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Fork, South Carolina where he worked for many years.

Leon was married to Gloria Rush on June 15, 1986 and to this union two sons were born, Stetson (Chenese) Mason and Nathan (Ashley) Mason; five grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Johnny "Sunny" Mason of Virginia; two sisters-in-law, both of New York; four sisters: Elaine Woodberry, Deborah Thompson, Carolyn Staggers, and Berthy Mason; two brothers, one whom preceded him in death: Clint Mason, and Leroy (Geraldene) Mason of Mullins, SC; two uncles: Jerry (Olivia) Mason of Florence, SC, James Edward Mason whom preceded him in death; five aunts: Louise Grainger, Betty Ruth Mason, both of Syracuse, NY, Annie Ruth Legette of Columbia, SC, Ethel Edwards of Philadelphia, PA and Little Mary Rouse, whom preceded him in death. Seven special friends: Cut, Molley, Gregg, Darrel, Cassie, Monica and Lee Lee;  a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
