Larry Reaves Obituary


Larry Reaves was born on October 11, 1955 in Mullins, SC to the late Henry and Ella Rebecca Smith Reaves. He slipped into eternal peace and rest on July 27, 2019.

Larry was the fourth son and the ninth child of eleven children. He joined Shiloh United Methodist Church in Fork SC, at a very young age, where he served faithfully in
many capacities throughout his life. He was educated in the Dillon County Public School System, and graduated in 1973 from Lake View High School in Lake View SC.

His long career of employment began by delivering medicine by bicycle for a local pharmacy in Mullins, SC. Afterwards, he was then employed by Elliot Drug Store in
Dillon, SC where he started as a stocker and was later promoted to Assistant Manager. His outstanding work ethic and leadership abilities led to his promotion to Manager
and a transfer to Augusta, GA.

After a year long recovery from a near fatal car accident, he left the pharmaceutical industry, and started over in manufacturing at Celetex (later International Paper) in
Sellers, SC. He worked there from 1977 until the plant closed in 1998 where he progressed from “pit worker” to supervisor.

He returned to retail, first working at Flying J in Latta, SC then later at Walmart in Marion, SC until his health declined.

His only child, Maltonio Larry Clark, son of Katrina Clark Campbell, preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his loving memory.
His Grandchildren: Ty’Heim and Jonathan Clark of Atlanta, GA; and Shalonda Clark of Fairmont, NC.

His Sisters: Frances (Elroy) Pringle of Effingham, SC; Loretta Goodman of Fork, SC; Gail (Nathaniel) Wilson of Columbia, SC; and Roberta (Vernon) White of St. Stephen,
SC. Two sisters, Gloria Jean Brown and Mae Reaves Bethea, and Sister-in-Law Martha Reaves preceded him in death.

His Brothers: William (Betty) Reaves of Trenton, NJ; Elder Maceo (Mary) Reaves of Lake View, SC; Milton (Sandra) Reaves of Hampton, VA; Timothy (Gina) Reaves of
Chesapeake,VA; and Brother-in-Law Roy Bethea of Hampton, VA. One brother, Carlton Reaves and Brother-in-Law James Brown preceded him in death.

His Aunt: Lillie Irene Brown of Lake View, SC! One God Son,Tyler McCormick of St. Stephen, SC! Maternal First Cousins: Margie Brown of Albany, New York and Vivian Smith of Baltimore, Md. Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives and friends.! His longtime special friend Betty Campbell of Mullins, SC.
