Obituary

Elaine Joyce Smith was born May 13, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey.  She was the daughter of the late Charles James and Gladys Riley.  She departed earthly life Thursday Afternoon, September 20, 2018.

Elaine Joyce grew up in Salem Baptist Church, in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Elaine Joyce graduated from Lincoln High School, in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Elaine Joyce met and married the love of her life the late Carl James Smith in August1971.  Elaine employed by the Army Base in Bayonne, New Jersey until 1989.  From 1989 until 1995 she worked for Municipal Government at the Township of Irvington.

Elaine Joyce was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Jersey City, New Jersey until moving to Irvington, New Jersey in 1989.  There she became a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, the late Rev. John L. McClain was her pastor.  She was a member of multiple boards in the church.  She later became a deaconess at Grace Temple Baptist Church. 

Deaconess Elaine Joyce moved to Mullins, South Carolina in 2009, with her husband the late Carl Smith, daughter Kimberley Smith and two grandchildren Brianna and Jordan Smith.  They all joined Fork Chapel Baptist Church where her pastor is the Rev. Curtis Campbell.

Elaine Joyce had her husband, her mother, her father and one grandchild who preceded her in death:  Carl Smith, Charles and Gladys Riley and Christopher Isaiah James Smith.

Elaine leaves to cherish her fond memories, a loving daughter Kimberley Smith; two loving sons Anthony Smith, New Jersey and Nicholas Williams of Texas; four grandkids:  Brianna and Jordan Smith, Andre and Nicholas William Jr.   A goddaughter Mary (Passion) Servance, dear friend Anderson, caring and loving.  Along with a host of Brothers-in-law, Sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
