Mrs. Donnie Nell Lee Floyd was born on August 3, 1936, and departed this earthly life on January 2, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Elease McCollough and Ozzie Lee and the step-daughter of the late Willie McCollough.
“Don Nell” as she was known by family and close friends, was a graduate of Palmetto High School, Mullins, South Carolina. She was joined in holy matrimony to Master Staff Sergeant Don Floyd and to this union, six children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband and oldest child, Wanda.
At an early age, she gave her life to Jesus and became a member of First Friendship Baptist Church. She served faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir, Missionary Ministry, and the Usher Board. Her greatest passion for serving the Lord was that cooking and baking. With a finger of love, she prepared food for church events, family, friends, and various social occasions. She was also a member of Palmetto Alumni, Progressive Chapter 104, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Sunshine Tent.
She was employed for over forty years for the Marion County School District where she retired as a cafeteria manager.
Loving memories will be cherished by her daughter Cathy of the home; son Donald (Gloria), Columbus, GA; son Ronald (Marva), Dillon, SC; son Timothy, Florence, SC; son Allison, Clinton, MD; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and other family members and friends. Special friends Margaret Tart, Charlotte Tart, and Muriel Carmicheal.
