Mrs. Beulah Mae Hayes entered into her eternal rest on early Sunday morning on 4 November, 2018. Mrs. Beulah was born in Lake View, SC on September 3, 1924. She was the second born of 8 children of Mr. Acie and Cora Platt. Mrs. Beulah grew up there and subsequently the family moved to Mullins, SC. Mrs. Beulah was a hard worker all her life. She co-shared with her husband as a sharecropper on several farms in the local area. She was a hard worker and most of the time surpassed her children as they labored in the tobacco and cotton fields on the farms where they lived. She accepted the Lord at an early age and she joined the House of God Holiness Church, Mullins, SC, where she was active on the choir; served as a Deaconess, and served on the Mothers Board. She possessed the heart of a missionary, and spent a lot of time taking care of other people.
After spending most of her young life working on the farm, she then in later years worked in service for several families in the Mullins area. Mrs. Beulah eventually got hired on at SoPak Co and stayed there until she retired in her 70’s. Mrs. Beulah was a phenomenal woman and very strong. When her husband died in 1981, Mrs. Beulah became the Matriarch of the Hayes family and keeping all of her 10 children and their kids together was a major asset in her character and personality.
Mrs. Beulah had several family members to precede her in death. Her parents, Acie & Cora Platt; her husband, Leegrant Hayes; three sisters, Margaret Reaves; Katheleen Hayes, Hazeleen McCoy and one brother, Acie Platt Jr.
