Beverly (Mae Helen) Wheeler Obituary

On Friday evening, March 29, 2024, Mae, with her daughter and brother went to her mother’s resting place to honor her loving memory. By nightfall, God called His daughter, “Beverly, your work is done. It’s time to come home.”

Beverly Jean Wheeler was born December 22, 1945 in Mullins, South  Carolina to the late Thomas and Ernestine Legette.  She accepted Christ at an early age, joining Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Though residing elsewhere for over 50 years, she returned to the church she loved so much.   Affectionally called “Mae” by her family and friends, she attended Palmetto High School, among the class of 1963.

Beverly married David Wheeler (Baltimore, Maryland) with whom she had 5 children.

Preceding her in death are her parents and 3 of her siblings; Vallie Wheeler, Thomas Legette, and Levern Legette, of Mullins and a special friend, Robert Allen of Washington, D.C.

Honoring her and cherishing her loving memory are her children- Daughters, Dorothy Drakeford (Greensboro. NC) and Matrese Wheeler-Herbart (Austin), (Charlotte, NC) Sons, David Wheeler and Johnny Wheeler ,(Florence, SC), Tyrone Wheeler, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ronnie Wheeler, (Atlanta, Georgia).

Siblings, Betty Pompey, Osbie Legette, and Douglas Legette (Mullins, SC) and Johnny Legette, (Chicago, Illinois), 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of cousins and friends.
